NEWPORT NEWS, VA, June 12, 2018 – The Peninsula Airport Commission (PAC), owners and operators of the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) has appointed new officers for the upcoming fiscal year, which will take effect on July 1, 2018. The Peninsula Airport Commission has appointed Sharon Scott of Newport News as their new Chair, replacing outgoing Chair, George Wallace who has led the commission with dedication and perseverance over the last two years.
Sharon has served on the Peninsula Airport Commission board for the last two years. In addition to the airport commission, Sharon also serves on numerous other boards to include the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Sister Cities, and Virginia Municipal League’s (VML) General Laws Committee to name a few. Sharon remains committed to restoring the public’s trust and moving the airport forward in a positive direction. Passenger safety and superior customer service at PHF, as well as, involvement in the community on a local, state and national level are also top priorities for Sharon in her new role as Chair.

The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is served by two airlines: American Airlines and Delta Air Lines with non-stop service to three domestic destinations Atlanta, Charlotte, and Philadelphia, with one-stop connections throughout the world.
The Commission is currently comprised of a 6-member board, four appointees from the City of Newport News and two appointees from the City of Hampton. The Commission has one Newport News vacancy that will be filled by City Council in the coming weeks.
