Aviation Management Intern – Unpaid

The Peninsula Airport Commission seeks a positive, team oriented, college student interested in expanding their knowledge about aviation management.  This unpaid internship will be approximately 4-10 hours a week for 2 months. The internship will include shadowing opportunities with airport operations, ARFF, airport maintenance, and the airport executive management team.  Intern will also have exposure to additional special projects and activities as scheduling allows.  Interested persons should submit a cover letter, resume, and 250 word or less essay explaining “Why I want to intern at the airport?”

TERMINAL MAINTENANCE CRAFTSMAN II

Full Time – $17.00 – $18.00 an hour

The Peninsula Airport Commission seeks a positive, team oriented, person to fill the position of Terminal Maintenance Craftsman II, at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. Applicant must possess Journeyman Electrical or HVAC license or extensive experience in a trade. Applicant will be required to perform general electrical work to include the installation and repair of conduit, wiring, panel-boards, lighting indoor/outdoor, and automatic transfer switches. In addition, applicant will make repairs and service a public address system, fire alarm, and baggage conveyor systems.  Applicant may also be tasked with minor maintenance of the terminal HVAC system. Excellent benefits provided.  This position is Monday-Friday, but also requires on-call response to the airport. Must pass medical, drug screen and security background check.

DIRECTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND CORPORATE ANALYTICS

Full Time – $75,000 – $85,000

The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport seeks an independent and responsible professional to develop, grow, and monitor all airport lines of business – aeronautical and nonaeronautical– to include all concessions, commercial real estate leases and future development, cargo (air/ground), Fixed Based Operators (FBO), Transportation network Companies (TNC) and other ground transportation, and/or ANY additional revenue opportunities.  This individual also will develop performance and quality analytics/standards that will ensure agreements and policies meet or exceed customer service and airport superior service level objectives.

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree (US/foreign equivalent) in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or Natural Sciences, or a related analytical field AND five years experience in business development, real estate, or contract/business law (Commonwealth of Virginia experience preferred), OR five years as an operations analyst OA (government/ industry OR Master’s degree (US/foreign equivalent) in same AND two years experience in business development, real estate, or contract/business law (Commonwealth of Virginia experience preferred), OR two years as an OA (government/industry); or equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable to the Executive Director, required. DIRECTOR STRATEGIC INITIATIVES, COMPLIANCE AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

Full Time – $70,000 – $80,000

The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport seeks an independent and responsible professional to develop business strategy, ensure compliance and facilitate business execution through direct Inter-Governmental contact. This individual will be required to balance a mix of strategy, planning, and multimodal communication techniques to exploit business opportunities via public and private revenue sources, while ensuring organizational compliance with regulations and the law via rigorous internal audit practices. Our goal is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the airport via strategic vision planning, community engagement, and enhanced inter-governmental relations. This individual must be adroit in coordinating/articulating legislative efforts by working with federal, state, and local governments, as well as the media, leading to policy proposals that improve the airport’s performance and image.

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Communications, or a field related to government ethics and communications, and ten years of full-time; or equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable to the Executive Director, required.  Previous government experience preferred. Applicant must pass medical, drug screen, and background check.  Excellent benefits package included.

PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER

Part Time – $15.50 per hour

The Peninsula Airport Commission seeks positive professionals to greet and assist the traveling public in the position of Public Safety Officer. Officers perform law enforcement and security duties, patrol airport property, and provide protection to tenants and traveling public.  Officers also interview/interrogate suspects and witnesses, conduct search and seizure, arrest, and prepare incident reports.  Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement certification required.  Part-time position with an average of 28 hours per week.  Must pass background check, criminal history records check, Security Threat Assessment, medical and drug screening. VRS retirees are eligible for these positions.
