PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER
Part time, $15.50 per hour
Officers perform law enforcement and security duties, patrol airport property, and provide protection to tenants and traveling public. Officers also interview/interrogate suspects and witnesses, conduct search and seizure, arrest, and prepare incident reports. Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement certification required. Part-time position with an average of 28 hour per week. Must pass background check, criminal history records check, Security Threat Assessment, medical and drug screening. VRS retirees are eligible for these positions.

Full time, $35,000 per year
The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport seeks an independent and responsible professional to help plan, organize, and oversee daily airside and landside operations. Position requirements: Conducts FAA Part 139 airfield inspections and wildlife control. Focuses on safety, security, and efficiency of operations and the expeditious flow of aircraft and passengers. Issues NOTAMs as required by airfield conditions. Provides airfield escorts for contractors needing access to facilities on the airport. Inspects ground transportation activities. Monitors the activities of tenants and employees during assigned shift to ensure compliance with airport rules and regulations. Reviews and acts on operational problems involving airport safety, security, federal certification matters and related matters as they impact the airlines, tenants, passengers and general public. Coordinates airport activities with Police, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting and other emergency personnel during incidents and while returning the airport to normal operations. Conducts SIDA and airfield drivers training as well as badge issuance. Ensures excellent customer service provided to airport users.
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Airport Management, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable to the Executive Director, required. Previous Airport Operations experience and affiliation with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) recommended.
